Bass Plugs
Hi lads, well my dad and myself were thinking of targeting bass next. Neither of us have ever caught a bass so we havnt a clue how to go about it. I was planning on picking up some plugs tomorrow and give them ago. Does anyone have any good plugs they can recommend? Im guessing anything that resembles a small mackeral? any idea's? cheers ,Ian

Bass lures ... where to begin?!?
A couple of brief thoughts to begin with. Try to get a few surface lures (poppers and pencils/sticks) and also a few diving lures. At this time of year you probably won't need anything that dives deep, so something shallow that dives between 6" and 2'6" would be good.
Also, don't worry about choosing "obvious" colours that match the supposed prey. I had bass over the weekend on gloss white, olive/purple and transparent lures. Flourescent orange also works. Black and silver is always a good standby. Something with a flash of red at the nose is also often productive. Go for variety rather than a bunch of lures that look like real fish!
I'll post some picks of lures that I have been catching with later on.
