Duration:7.30 am-3.30pm

Tide:low around 6.30am,

Weather:sunny, warm, i shower

Bait:rag,mack

Rigs:float, 1 hook clipped down, feathers

Results:5 pollock

Report:Arrived with high hopes after having a good session here in june catching wrasse and pollock with shamoo0804. Set up the float rig but the water wasnt too deep in close so I changed to a 1 hook clipped down baited with rag and mack and cast out as far as i could.
This worked for me the last time when i got a large ballan wrasse, but alas this time I lost the rig :cry: . This is rough ground and you can expect tackle losses :oops: .Back to the float setup and at 8'30 approx i got the first pollock :lol: . I thought this would be the first of many but it was another 2 hours till I got the second :roll: . In between i took my eye off the ball when a nice yacht anchored nearby, and when i finally realised the float had disappeared it was too late ,and the wrasse ( I PRESUME :shock: ) had wedged himself tight :cry: , resulting in another tackle loss :cry: There was a lot of activity all day with Kayakers, swimmers, fishing boats , yachts, helicopters, water skiers etc, and i dont know if this affected the fishing. After 5 hours all i had to show was 2 pollock and although i was glad not to be blanking i was also a little bit disappointed that the wrasse hadnt turned up :cry: . I had to keep moving across and up as the tide rose and for a while i was cut off till the tide turned again. I kept putting off the last cast and when a fishing boat anchored about 200 yds offshore and they started to pull in the macks, i put on a set of feathers/muppets.
Its tricky trying to retrieve the feathers here but i noticed that i could judge the depth when my leader(yellow) was a few yards out of the water. Once i could see about 3 yds of yellow leader out of the water all the time i was ok, if you know what i mean :? :roll: .I was hit like a train by a nice pollock which put up a good fight. Another pollock just missed the feathers as i lifted them out of the water so i realised they were in close and kept casting and retrieving close to where i was. I had got 3 more pollock this way which made me glad i stayed that bit longer :lol: .

Now it was ok to go home, so i packed up and started the long climb back up . I was doing ok (human goat) until i looked up and saw about 30 people watching me. Before i put on the rucksack i'm already carrying an extra 3 stone( fat :cry: ), so its a long haul for me, so with all the grace and poise of a baby giraffe finding its feet for the first time :lol:, i skipped up the rocks. :shock: . When i reached the onlookers i had to have a look down at the swimmers below, (CATCH MY BREATH :roll: ), and saw all these old guys in the nude in the water, and out of it. Then i realised that my tackle losses werent that bad after all, if you know what i mean :wink:

Nice to meet you Richie :oops: , im sorry i wasnt more talkative(i usually am :roll: ), but i hadnt got my oxygen cylinder with me and needed the breath for the rest of the climb :oops: , might see you again sometime :lol:

Nice pollock Dave.

Conditions looked perfect for the wrasse, I'm suprised you didnt have more joy on the float though. That mark has never let me down yet.

From your photo, thats the busiest I've seen the water out there with the boats, yaks and all :roll:

We'll catch up for a session soon hopefully.

Bank Holiday Monday, i suppose others have the right to enjoy themselves as well Mark :lol: . Got a couple of takes from what i presume were wrasse. Lost a float on one when he dived for cover and wedged tight. Pollock were good sport though :lol: .

hi thats my warrior in your pic ,i was float fishing sandeel but no luck .we had come in from the kish were we had 2 nice tope
