damage to rag and lug beds

well lads herd today that the ragworm beds and lug beds in the waterford estuary are been dug to bits by polish lads who are selling them any one hear anything?

Hi, dont have to hear anything , just go look at the bank, it resembles the somme :cry:
Its like anything today, clean it out , short term gain , sod the consequences.
watched a group wade out with only a small amount of the bank exposed, and they continued digging until the water came round there feet and waded back with the water up to there chest!!
Think i might be required one day!!

I know this is a little off topic but i have seen foreign nationals at a pier not far from me wait for a spring tide until the water leaves the base off the pier then walk round the front of it and strip off all the oysters....

Ive also seen them take home starfish for the table..

so as regards cleaning out lug beds i would not be suprised in the least...

oh and they also completely wiped out a family of "pet" ducks which were the pride and joy of a nearby town by going down into the river beside the main street catching them and ringing their necks in front of some be-mused spectators... :shock:

honestly we have reverted to the dark ages here in limerick...

Was in Wexford last weekend seen some !!!!!!!! down at the harbor with hand lines and rods fishing for crabs :evil: They had filled 3/4 of a fish box with them :evil: :evil: :evil: Went over to them to see what they were up to and got the dirty looks. Went to take photos and they were not to happy about it at all :lol: Though it best not to take any at that point :!: All I could do was report it to the tackle shop next day..

they have destroyed some great beds in Dublin aswell.

they are digging for a Dublin bait supplier.
one i would never buy bait off no matter how stuck i was.
i would urge all anglers to do the same invest in a decent fork and get your own bait put the commercial lads out of business :wink:

well no one should suport buying bait off them.with a bit of luck with the building trade going slack most will move on.

Although to be fair, I don't think Limerick ever managed to get out of the dark ages in the 1st place... :wink:

I'd check where your local bait dealers are getting your worms from before you start throwing accusations about. I know a large bait dealer in Dublin has some EE guys out for him digging bait. It's always healthy to jump to conclusions when you're talking about the bogeymen.

Those worm beds have been dug to bits for a very long time boys. Long before EE lads came along. You can even see the evidence of that on the springers now...
