Tide: seemed to be a big one, just after low water up to mid water and short of high water

Weather: warm, overcast, odd spot of rain, light breeze

Bait: local limpet

Rigs: 1 and 2 hook rotten bottoms, every lure in the box

Results: 1 ballen wrasse, aroun 750 grams




Report: This time last year I had big 2-3 kilo pollack from the snaggy pollack hole right at the end of the track, just shy of the island. Set off hoping for same again and got there around 4 pm. met a couple of anglers heading back fishless from spinning for macks. Big rollers offshore but quiet enough in the holes. Put some limpets down and found only fishing in about 2-3 metres of water. Waited for tide to fill to try lures for pollack, shallow divers over the kelp worked best last year but no action at all on the limpets for 2 hours. Finally got some bites and landed a small female ballen and then switched to the lures as the tide covered the rock in the middle of the hole. Still very bright at this stage and got no action at all. Nothing. Tried every lure and every spot for not a sniff so it just goes to show how important dusk is to pollack fishing...

Still, nice to be out and not a blank!
