Tackle shops in Galway (or nearby)

#1 Post by Irish_Shamrock »

Hello folks,

I'll be in Galway this weekend to watch the super Derry City whoop the Tribesmen's arses  but I'll be doing a bit of fishing too. Going to need to buy bait though (mackeral and ragworm) so any advice on where I could buy these would be mucho appreciated

Cheers...

Thanks fellas.

I will be fishing a beach in the north of the county at a wee place called Rinvyle (sp?) this Saturday evening/night coming after spending Friday in Galway City.

Stumbled across it last year on a 10 day tour down the West coast from Derry to Kerry, caught plenty of monster-sized flounder, dogs, thornies and what I think may have been a spotted ray, all on mackeral (before a rat stole the last of my bait on me!!! )

Anyway, it looks a very bassy beach to me so I wanted to try the rag at dark. I may be forced to bring some down with me then and try my best to keep them alive...

Cheers

yeah its Rinvyle.. nice little beach.. sandeel and mack are best baits for ray and doggies squid and mack for huss, lugworm will get good sized flounder.. i think the smallest ray i got there was 5lbs..

as for bass, good luck  but having said that there is a nice little population of them up there and under the right conditions you never know :D

Which beach in Renvyl are you fishing.
UP THE DEISE!!!!!!!

If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation.

Not sure what the beach is called. It faces north, and it's got a wee campsite that backs right down to the beach, where there's a wee rocky outcrop sticking out in the middle.

There's also a wee river running into the beach just to the right of the rocks. We had good fishing there last September so hopefully we'll have another good session this Saturday.

Any tips on the bullhuss?? Never had the pleasure before...

mack and squid cocktail will get huss, they like rough ground though, so fishing off the rocks to the right might get one there..
