Spot Between Greystones and Kilcoole 13/07

#1 Post by Richie07 »

People:Me

Duration:5.30am - 10.30am

Tide:8ish HT

Weather:mostly dull but warm

Bait:Kilty lure and Maria Chase, blue colour

Results: 5 Bass, 10 Mackerel, 5 launce, 1 Pollock.

Report: Headed off early doors with a small backpack and a few lures, 1st cast I hooked into a jumbo Mackerel which was a decent size and put up a good scrap on the light gear, got a few launce then and a few more Macks, then a nice Pollock of about 2lb which was a good surprise for the location, then got the run of Bass all on the Kilty bar 1 which was on the Maria. It's a great feeling when you know its a Bass after hitting your lure and not a mack, biggest Bass was around the 5lb mark, got all the Bass in the space of half an hour then it went quiet and I just picked up a couple of Macks. All Bass returned along with the Pollock, just kept the Mack for my breakfast and dinner for during the week. Happy days indeed.

Great fishing there well done, the kiltys are the only thing i use really for the bass, do alot of spinning down in south wexford and find them unbeatable really. You can get them in murphys tackle in wexford town and i think i got a few in mikes tackle in dun laoghaire before.
Hope this helps.

species for 2011 (12)
species for 2012 (8)
best advice for catching species is girls dont like fishing and its hard to catch fish when you sell all your gear'

Theres an all silver one, one with red on one side silver the other, green on one side silver the other, blue one one side silver the other, orange one side silver the other, mixed- one side half red and white flip side silver. I find the red /silver combo works the best, suppose it depends on the colour of the water and light.
A bad day fishing is better than a good day at the office!
