Wexford Smuts 27-06-08

#1 Post by Danny M. »

People:Me and Brian the Cameraman

Duration: 2 1/2 hrs 10pm - 1230am

Tide:rising

Weather: overcast humid slight s/w breeze

Bait:Frozen crab

Rigs: 3/0 Pennel pulley

Results:10 Smooth Hound.

All fish swam away happy out .

Report:Went to Tinnebearna first searching for smuts, big surf when I arrived,I gave it one cast reeled in had about a stone of weed on it...that fecked up plan A
After a quick think I set off searching for a clean bit of coastline to try and show Brian what all the fishing hype is all about ( he doesnt fish)Plan B.
Arrived at a location , I set up 2 rods , and the following 2 1/2 hours was mayham !!! Which resulted in none of the fish being weighed or measured and only a few photos taken.

After the third fish I gave up using 2 rods..as having 2 Smuts on seperate rods at the same time is not funny..
I landed 10 Smuts, I dropped 6 during their respective fights, 1 of which I reckon was a double, he was fighting away for about 10mins mins taking line head banging etc sweat was pouring off me, then the knot pulled out of the hook  Which was a first for me.

Anyway the war office rang me at 12:20pm to get my arse home.
So I left it at that ! :)
