South Donegal bay - caught a couple of pollock spinning from the shore into very large, weedy boulders and rock shelves. The water was very clear and with my polaroids, I saw two quite large unidentified fish very close in under my feet cruising lazily. When I moved, they were aware and moved away. Any idea what they might have been? Could they have been mullet? - the only time I see a pollock in the water is when one suddenly goes for the spinner.
If mullet is likely, what is the best tactic? - sit and wait with breadcrumbs? (not much attraction for me or the fish) - stalk them? (the chances of seeing one are few and far between) - or what?
Alan.

Def Mullet,
Try ground baiting the area with bread over a few days if you live close by, then either fish a bread flake floating on the surface or if you have fly gear try a fluffy white fly, great sport. Small hooks and light leaders recommended they spook easily.

Life is always getting in the way of my fishing....

Yep Mullet
A great fish on light gear , you can feed them with bread mushad up with oils and bits of macks . I found that a clear float and a light braid trace to a small hook with the bread pressed onto it . You have to be fast they can blow it out as fast as they suck it in the braid gives that little bit better action ........
Good luck
