Dalkey 08.06.08

#1 Post by samo »

People:Me, Turner, Heno

Duration:11:30 - 15:30

Tide:low and rising

Weather:sunny

Bait rag, lug , spinners

Rigs:floats

Results:pollock, Ballan Wrasse, Cork Wing Wrasse, Lance

got to Dalkey at around half eleven plenty of activity in the water so started to spin. first few casts had a few pollock only small then had one or two pushing the pound mark. plenty of lance in the water and hooked one after a while there was also plenty of mackeral about a little further out and saw a few of the boats lift full lines out.

switched to the float then when the tide flooded in a bit first fish was a small pollock. went quiet for a while then caught a nice Ballan Wrasse. turner switch over to the float then as well and caught a nice Ballan Heno landed a few cork wings and a small blenny the size of his rag worm

turner might be able to put up some pics for this report.

Nice fishing there.

It's well worth renting a boat out of Bullock Harbour, €20 p/h, not much between 3/4 of you for 3/4 hours, and if you fish round the back of Dalkey Island, you will get better sized pollock and wrasse (upto 3-4lb) to feathers baited with a bit of rag or lug.

Looking forward to your pic's

Cheers Shamoo,

i've been out in the boats a good bit around the islands used to fish with Dalkey angling club and we used to get some massive pollock around the muglans on red gill and head hooked king rag. you should give it a go the next time your out in the boats all you need is a bit of a run in the water and a good anchor to hold the bottom.

culla, it depends what fish your targeting, if its macks you are after, they are still hit and miss at the moment around these parts

culla,

I'll echo what samo had said, I was out a few weeks back in a boat from bullock harbour, and my fishing buddy had a nice wrasse on feathers baited with rag, it was taken round the back of Dalkey Island.

Also read my report from last night....

If you dont know where Hawk Cliff is, it's just round the corner from Coliemore Harbour, towards Killiney beach, where the little swimming hut is. Just follow all the naked swimmers , they will lead you to it :D
