Wood rot on a boat.

Hi there.I broght a wood yacht 16 foot as a project to do with my son.I just noticed that it has a bit of rot under water line.Does anyone has any tips how to fix this.I have been tolld that i have to cut rot pice of and place a new one.Is that the only way.Any tips wery much appreciated.

I found this idling in Tips n Tricks, so I moved it in here. Any chippies about who know the answer?

How much wood rot are we talking about? do you have any pictures of it you can post? Generally you will need to remove the piece of offending wood, but there might be other ways depending on where the problem is.
