towing

#2 Post by screeming reels »

Hi,
Purely depends on what weight you are going to tow? the new santa fe is a 2.2 , and it can pull 2200kgs the old version , pulls 2000kgs.
if its a warrior type boat 165 etc, should have no problem, if its a bigger boat, then 2.0 might not be enougth, it will pull it, but on the slipway/beach you may have problems
regards

The Santa Fe will have no problems Oisin.... I know Pete was not happy with the 4 x 4 performance on the Santa Fe, but unless you are towing over sloppy mud, this is not likely to factor. You'll be fine on any slip I can think off.

I have the same problem Oisin. Somehow most of the pictures linked to from other site wont show. Not sure how they manage that. If the image is attached to this website then there are no problems.

You will have absolutely no problem towing with the Santa Fe 2.0. I had two in the past 3 years before upgrading to an L200. My bug bear with it was that being in permanent 4WD mode with no diff lock I got it stuck on 2 occasions, once in mud bait digging when I went into a predug patch on one side and the other when I hit soft sloppy sand on a beach. (turns out the local farmers sharpen their ploughs on that beach and it was loosened and full of water.) On both occasions Centre Diff Lock would have got me out without stress and I needed a commercial vehicle with extra seats for the kids hence going for a 2.5ltr chipped up L200.

From a fuel economy POV, the Santa Fe was very frugal, I was consistently getting well over 40 MPG with it. Grand motor, very comfortable to drive, economical, tows well and has enough poke to get you out of trouble on slips and the like. Don't use them as an offroader though, they just arent up to it.

Pajero Sport Commercial?? keep an eye out for one of the old type L200s, if it has the standard engine in it it shouldnt be too sore on juice. New Pajero Sports commercials are actually cheaper than the Santa Fe Commercial.
