Fahan Beach

#1 Post by fishermannum1 »

stopped in at this beach yesterday with my missus and dauther, and i could not believe my eyes  Donegal council were lining the beach with them big round bails of straw, side by side, just above the high water mark. one guy i was talking to said there are putting them there for health and safety reasons!! while we were walking along this wall of straw i seen at least four or five groups of young bucks with their carry outs, sitting on top of the bails SMOKING!!! and BBQ'ing beside them. jes; if one went up in smoke the lot will go for they are all side by side, and this beach was packed with people. if a fire starts the whole length of the beach would be ablaze, and anyone out on the beach would be cut off. this is a disaster waiting to happen...

oh the county council do it again what an amazing buch of a**holes....the list of stories i have is endless

the best has to be when they were resurfacing the road outside my house a few years back..they decided to cover all access to water mains, fire hydrants, drains etc...only freeing them up again after a heavy load of rain flooded alot of the area month later!!

they also put a sing at the end of my favourite pier obstructing all casting with a piture implying "fish here" ....actually no im so stupid ill cast my bait onto the grass  ...needless to say the sign didnt last long....

My housemate also got his grant for college (thsi is kerry co.co btw but same thing) for 1st semester living expenses in late january..first semester is from september to december..a tad late i think...

the list goes on....

But seriously...Give them C.C's a brain to share and think how much of an improvement there would be to their decision making

Don't know if you've seen this telephone pole. It was in Ballylinan in Laoise. ESB and Council fought for months as to who was responsible. Disappeared very shortly after pics went on web. Says it all..... well maybe not all, maybe just a lot of it.... ok, ok, just a little of it.  :?

...was thinking the same thing MC, but to use these bails of straw is madness, they have turned this beach in to a prudential death trap!!!

my understanding of it is : is that it may be to stop further erosion of the beach and introduce measure to incourage 'man-made' sand dunes to prevent any more beach being lost. I have seen it on a couple of donegal beaches now
