Docks-based sailing school Bow Waves is to hold a meeting of interested parties to discuss proposals to ban jetskis and other power craft from the county's waterways.

According to a statement, "Bow Waves, Galway's Sail and Power Boat School is facilitating a meeting of interested parties and individuals to discuss the effects of this regulation and how it effects water users and how we as a group of water users, can move forward together to protect our sports and encourage safety on our coasts. This ban could have serious implications for other watersports down the road and this meeting is an effort to see what direction we can take as a group to ensure positive growth, education and enjoyment of watersports into the future."

The meeting will take place in the Harbour Hotel on Friday, 16 May at 7pm. For further information and to register interest, email info@bowwaves.com.

I reckon if we went down and said jetskis should be banned everywhere we'd get a nice welcome!
Its called fishing, not catching. If it was called catching it wouldn't be fishing!

Actually, they sound like pretty sensible people worried about the future of their sport and access to the water, not being helped by the irresponsible amongst them.

Sounds familiar, doesn't it? Might actually be worthwhile going along and finding out more about them.
