People: me

Duration: 8pm - 4am

Tide: rising to high, dropping to low

Weather: sunny to bitterly cold after dark, calm hardly a breeze

Bait: rag, mackstrips, baby squid and small hardbacks(2 euro size)

Rigs: 3 hook flapper and size 4 rockling rigs

Results: 6 pollack, 2 whiting, 1 coalfish, 10 shore rockling, 1 3.b. rockling and 1 pouting

Report: arrived down and set the 3 rods up around 8pm and had the pier to myself until the local underage drinkers arrived. unfortunately they had 2 cases of bottled beer, and well you're not gonna need to be psychic to guess what happened next  . between the screaming and fighting most of the bottles were smashed on the harbour or chucked into the harbour. 2 other anglers who arrived in the middle of this only stuck it out around half an hour before moving on elsewhere due to the free for all breaking out in the backround  .thank god i was on my own and did'nt have junior out with me or i'd have been gone within a half hour too. a serious fight broke out among themselves around midnight and i think someone in the crowd called the police because they soon scattered up into the town and battled on. thank god. now i could relax and get a bit of fishing done. got into a couple of pollack and a coalfish early on when all the other stuff was going on and then came the usual dose of assorted rockling a couple of hours into the darkness. then a whiting and a small pouting to round the session off. i left with a bad taste in my mouth after the madness from earlier. it saddens and sickens me to have to say i will need to think twice about coming back here after dark if i'm gonna bring my son in the future. as everyone knows from my previous reports this wee mark has been good to us over the past 7 months or so, but i could never with clear conscience allow my son to listen to or watch what transpired on sunday night. personally i never felt threatend myself, but i'm a fairly burly doorman who works the door in belfast, but i watched countless members of the public get within 40 foot of the pier and turn around and walk away, sad guys, very sad.

Unfortunately Alan, the pier during the summer months is riddled with young pissheads! But if you like fishing down that way try Orlock Head. Far better fishing in the summer months anyway, then start fishing Donaghadee Pier from October onwards again. :D

nice rockling, as for the touble its a summer thing, at some piers there is alway emptys lying around, been forced off a beach by idiots driving like morons and almost hitting me in the dark, only to go to the pier in the same area to find other numpty's doing the same with quads,

sorry for the rant, nice fishing,

great fishing mate, shame about the yobbo's, but its the same thing every year, as soon as they see the sun is out with warm evenings, then they appear with their carry outs. a couple of drinks later and they think they are rambo. see this every year on the pier's. thats when i move on to the rock marks.
as ole rab c said " see me' see the sea' i love the sea me"
right i'am off for a swally!!!!!!! so were's the F***'n purse!!!!!!!

ye are forgetting the obvious here lads a quick 999 phone call should clear the problem
it might take take a few visits from the police but eventualy even their small brains will realise they wont be able to drink here without the police annoying them and move on..not solving the problem but at least you will have enjoyable fishing :)

unfortunately i've seen the results of a 999 call before. the yobs clear off, but return as soon as the police are off side. and it's unfortunate but true, but a lot of the police are working on the premis that if the yobs are being a nuisance down the end of a pier destroying things then at least they ar'nt doing it in the town where shops and buisnesses are located, so turn a blind eye
