Fished sheltered water for most of the day. The fishing was very poor, there was a few pollock, ballan and cuckoo wrasse coming to other rods. I picked up one pollock.
Then the other guys on the boat suggested that we go out past the sheltered water. To much protest from me. It was horrible out there. Rolling all over the place. I gave up fishing and decided to sit in the wheel house. I fish for fun, to me that wasn't fun. The brave few that continued to fish caught some more pollock, but no other species.
The competition was won , by someone on another boat, 4 species. Pollock, ling, cod, ballan wrasse.
Very poor day.
Killybegs species competition 03-05.

Fished the Mariners SAC 2 day comp up there last year in horrible conditions on day 1, the phrase of the day came over the VHF..... Teddy Bears in a washing machine.... :D Hard luck Ant, it can be a poor venue to fish in rough conditions.
Fluff chucking is the new black..... Rampant Wreckfish is a fly angler in denial
