North Wexford Beaches

#1 Post by alby »

People:Myself & Bro in law

Duration: 3 hours

Tide:3 hours flood

Weather:Easing Easterly

Bait:Lug, Rag & crab

Rigs:flappers & clipped down pennels

Results:1 bass & 1 flounder

Report:
Fished a couple of North Wexford Beaches Saturday night & Sunday Afternoon. Fishing was very slow but conditions were favourable with good surf running & Spring tide, not much weed or debris about which made fishing easy enough.

I thought there would be a few bass arounds given the conditions and on Saturday night I missed a cracking bite on a some crab close in, rod nearly pulled over the tripod but I picked up and nothing, put the rod back in and same again about a minute later  , this was on my scratching rig in close and on rag tipped with a few legs.

Went out to use the rest of my bait this afternon and again fishing was very slow, the sea had died off a bit and was very comfortable to fish, bit of colour too which gave me hope. Tried the same tactic again of a flapper in close and a bigger bait out at 100 yards, got a slackliner on the far rod and when I got the slack back I could feel a little bass thumping around, happy enough with that and then got a little flounder on my next cast, got both fish on Lug tipped with rag, nice to be out but fishing was very slow.

I can see your pain alright horse, I thought you just had a problem getting cod during the winter, but now you don't even get a sniff in perfect conditions while me & Dennis open the Bass account for the year, must be heartbreaking for ye

I got this avatar just for you -
