Belmullet area, suggested marks?!

#1 Post by shamoo0804 »

Hi all,

I'm from Dublin but I am heading to the Belmullet area next weekend.

I want to get some fishing in but wouldnt have a clue were to start in that neck of the woods.

I would be really grateful for a bit of help with some marks/tactics/tides/baits etc.

Please feel free to send me a pm if you dont wanna give your secrets away.

Myself and my friend are relative novices (casting probably limited to around 120/130 yards).

We have beach casting and spinning gear.

Any beach/pier/rock marks inc directions would be fantastic.

Thanks

Have a look and read here

After that drop me a PM, its a bit early for some species but there are places where you will do fine, with a half decent few days weather.

The best shop to stop in is probably islands sports in castlebar. From Dublin turn left at the first roundabout and its in the retail centre on the left, at the back, behind a motor factors. Massive place, boats inside!

If you want ot bring bait with you, bring ragworm. None on the west coast and so long as it is in good condition it will work wonders on either beaches or rock marks. Are you fit? Would you be up to walking for 10 15 minutes over boggy ground and scrambling around a bit? RSVP.

Cheers
Kieran Hanrahan

Time spent fishing is never time wasted...

2015 targets - a triggerfish, a specimen bass, a three bearded rockling to complete the set and something big and toothy from certain north Mayo deep water marks
