Hi lads
Looking form a bit of advice on how to get to Little Killary. Heading down this Saturday for the day.I know how to get to Westport so if any one could give me directions from there I would be very grateful. Also being very cheekey if anyone could point out a few hotspots I'd be extremely grateful (PM's In confidence).I'm hoping to get my first thornback. I did get the directions from this months IA but I have tendency to get lost and my co driver for the day isn't much better.
Cheers
Shane

if you get to westport head for the N59, that will bring you right through leenane, follow the N59 along the coast and past the K2 adventure center(6km from leenaun)(on the left) and look for a right turn with signs for tully, scuba diving.. (1.3km)you will know it because you will see a mast just a bit further along the road. take the right turn and follow the road around a lake.. keep left as the road forks (4.7km)and follow the lake shore, further along you will/should see a sign for Glasilaun pointing down to the right(3km)(if you pass a post office turn around, you have gone too far), take your time turning, its a sharp one with loose gravel, there are 3 roads that turn to the right, its the second one (0.5km) and should be signposted for scuba dive west.
you know when you are there as you will arrive at a carpark facing the beach and a gate/road going down to scuba dive west..
park up at the carpark and walk down the road that leads to scuba dive west and on the right is a gate(be sure to close it behind you)
you should see where people have walked before(walk towards the point , you will see a high grass bank that has short grass and high above the water with a sharp rock face leading down to the water.. welcome to little killary..
you should know your there if the background looks like this
http://www.geocities.com/galway_bay_sea ... llery.html
first four photo's..
pulley rigs, one up one downs and running ledger rigs are probably the best to use, size 2 - 2/0 hooks
fish baits: sandeel is usually the best but sometimes mackerel will out fish it and squid works too
hope you get a good one
