hi everyone i know this isn,t about fishing but coming over in sept(again) for a weeks fishing we are thinking of staying in annascaul so we can access dingle ,tralee, and possibly down to waterville??? what i want to know is what is annascaul like how busy if at all whats the pub life like (got to have a bit of night life ) any curry houses or is that to much to ask so all in all is it worth staying there or anyone got any other possible suggestions apart from staying in dingle itself as we have done that for 5yrs running any help would be gladly appreciated and maybe closer to the date we could arrange to meet up for a session(thats session in the sense of fishing ) thanx in advance, paul

Hi Will, the south pole in in annuscaul does good ordinary grub, nothing fancy but real food. the strand hotel in inch has allegedly been revamped and livened up but it aint no bangkok either. dingle is thriving on wknd's for the 20pints and chips brigade-its bout 20mins from annascaul.

more importantly the fishin wasn't bad at all in the general area of where you said last september. not that I done spectacular but there was plenty variets and plenty fish. let us know closer to time and I'l give you some estimate whats going on

couple of good Indians in Tralee night life ok (well plenty of pubs anyway).

Annascaul is smaller and quieter but I know people who swear by it. locals mostly there should be a good buzz around the place in september.

Howya Will. Anascaul is about twenty minutes from tralee (30km) and about 1hr 15mins from waterville (90km). Thats according to AA route planner.

Good bait to be had in Landers in Tralee in terms of frozen stuff. Usually has plenty of Ammo sandeel mac and blacks. Not so sure about livebait.

In waterville Kevin Brain is the man for bait:

He's a welshman like yourself with years of fishing experience down there. Does a guiding service in the area too.
I require a tremendous amount of calcium
