Auto
No reason why you cannot tow with an auto. The manual overide would be handy if you were on a slipway and were getting some wheel spin. There are legal restrictions on the weight you can tow (braked or unbraked trailer etc. Saying that I cannot find the regs on the DoT website.) You should be grand in the Warrior 165 size/weight of boat.

Boat Towing with Automatic..
One word of advice, don't use the overdrive (4'th or sometimes 5'th gear), if the trailer/load is more than 1/3'rd the towing vehichle weight. Leave it in the gear below(typically 3'rd) as this produces less strain and slippage on the torque converter on the Auto box.( slippage causes the At fluids to breakdown, leading to increased friction and overheating). If possible, fit a Tranny oil cooler to prevent the overheating.
Heath, with a 1998 chevy venture people carrier, 3.4 ltr V6, pulling a small boat or 2200lb pop up trailer.( and yes, it has a tranny oil cooler)
