No reports yet. You could grab some now if you were are on the right mark that happened to be fishing and this will change year to year and if anyone knows pm me first

Crabs peeling end of april start of may brings the ray in on the Limerick marks. Out further in the Estuary they come in earlier.

had my first "summer" ray last year on the 22nd of april:

the previous year 17th april:

and before that was the 13th march where i got a once p.b. of 11lbs

as you can see it does vary but basically the warmer the weather the earlier you get em...

I'm going down to help one of our suppliers out for a few days, they don't know yet so I wouldn't want to reveal their name without them knowing

ya defo especially with the weather getting better, theres a place close to shannon called rineanna creek, good for flounder but i never fished it, donagh could help you with this one. Other than that youd have to travel to the far side of the fergus estuary to get the ray, huss conger etc..

It would be to late to fish the creek as the flounder would have left. The marks the other side of the Fergus would be worth a shot especially the deep water ones but I can`t recommend one as I haven`t fished them a whole lot. I`ve seen good and but alot of poor returns in comps in carrigaholt and poulnasharry over the years in march April but it very much depends on weather and where your pegged.

How far would you be talking to the far side of fergus, trying to work out should I fly from Dublin or take the 6 hr drive down with my gear.

from shannon you go to clarecastle, just south of ennis, which would take half hour then another half hour to say the most popular marks like new quay or the white gate, have a look at the marks section on the site and google earth

Just a quick update, I missed my first Ray on my first cast no doubt, caught a bucket full of Doggies though and hope to be returning soon.

Hi Donagh, I was fishing Poulnasherry Bay on Tue & wed low tide, missed a classic ray bite with in minutes of the first class then nothing but doggies for the remainer of the two sessions, I had 9 dogs the second night all on sandeel.

I was fishing with Bill Ryan, a true gentlemen and well worth a call if anyone's looking put on to fish.

http://www.chillwithbill.com

It was the first time I had fished for Thornies and was really dissapointed that I missed my chance but I'm confident that it won't be long.

Robbie.
