Boat seat

#1 Post by hush1 »

Hi lads!

Trying to figure out what of seat I could put on my boat....I have a 15ft trident fast fisher. I wanted to put a very simple bench seat accross the boat. I was thinking of something with clasps and with adjustable width so I could move it up or down the boat depending on room needed..eg fishing or driving. The clasps would simply latch on to each side of the boat.

Any ideas on where i could buy something like this or do you think I will have to custome make it?

Are you looking for something that goes accross the gunnels?

Exactly...... a bench seat that runs across the gunnels....thinking of something with clasps on both sides that would lower the seat perhaps 6 inches below the gunnel. The width would have to be adjustable so it can move up and down the boat and would need a middle section for stability. If I could get something made out of fiberglass so it could be handled eassily and light weight.

Only thing I can think of here is the DIY route. Perhaps something made of wood that would fit over the Gunnels and have a board as a seat. I can't think of a way of making such a unit adjustable easily... I would look at the possibility of making it wide enough that it will fit where you require it.... Fit some rubber pad to wood that goes over the Gunnels... This will keep any slip to a minimum...

I would need to put a middle support in it for the fat boys!

Maybe not. Especially if you made the seat of 2 lenghts of 3 x 1 with 1/2 incl ply on top.... It would flex a little, but that shouldn't be too much of a problem.
