I Have just bought a house at Ballylifften and was wondering if any one would give us a few tips as to where is the best place to fish. :?: :?:

hi mate there is a lot of good spots around the Ballylifften area, just up the road from you there is the isle of doe, and the lagg, very good for seatrout. your close to malin head, lennen bay, colmany beach,dunree. there is loads of places around you. and Ballyliffen beach has produced some Bass a few weeks ago....hope this helps you. SAI SAC have a competition at Dunree at 3-8pmo Saturday 1st March.
I was told a spot further north of it - Leonard's Head (?) - was excellent.
Drop down to the competition, you'll pick up loads...

What type of fishing are you into and looking to do mate? If you get a chance to pop down to Dunree on Sat aft/evening, do so. I grew up in the area myself and I'm sure there will be one or two more local(ish) lads that can advise also.

forgot to say, the isle, and lagg are each side of an estuary, and you would need to get a rod license for the seatrout. fishery officer's come onto the beach steady to check your license. if you havent got one you loss your gear, and get a fine. for the sake of a few quid your better safe than sorry...

hi gravel, have not fished the lagg this year yet, but will soon. have not been to malin head for a good few months now.....why do you ask??? at the lagg i park beside the wall on the left handside before you come to the five finger strand

Hi gdstafford,
I do a bit of fishing up that direction during the summer. we normally just fish off the rocks at low tide to the right of tullagh strand for pollock, coalie, wrasse, mackand the occasional gar.
The peir at lenan is normally packed with mackeral danglers but if you can get there during the day its normally good fishing for flaties and maybe a gurnard or two. Theres a rock mark behind the peir thats a favourite of mine that will always throw up the bigger fish, conger, pollock, coalie.
Pollen strand is the beach right next to the Ballyliffen and Strand hotels but i've never fished it, i will this year though! Has anyone fished Pollen strand before?

Hi thanks for all your tips will be up Next weekend 8th & 9th March. We may try and go up early on the Friday and try a bit of night fishing on the beach at Culldaf. So if you see 2 idiots one much larger than the other come up an introduce yourselves. We look forward to meeting you
