Any point in using bling for flat rigs when fishing during the night?

I had a good session recently with glow and float beads on kilcoole at night, nothing was feeding really until I changed the rigs to the bling rigs. True to form I got a flattie on the bottom snood on a blinged up rig, does it matter? It definitely did to the whiting but not sure about the flounder cept it was on the hook you'd expect it to take.
2008 Species: Flounder, whiting, coal fish, Dogfish, rockling, dab.
