BRAY 2ND FEB

#1 Post by eyesreilly »

People:ME

Duration:7.30AM-11AM

Tide:High at 8.15am approx

Weather:bitter cold, icy breeze, flat calm sea.

Bait:mack, squid

Rigs:3 hook flapper, 1 up 1 down

Results:4 whiting, 1 shore rockling, 1 coalfish.

Report:Decided to go out early to try to miss the rain  Was going to go to one of the wicklow beaches but it was so cold I wanted the car nearby so went to Bray Harbour  . No rain but perishin cold :( . Very breezy so hard to detect bites. Rockling came first at about 8am, followed quickly by a whiting. Soon after came a better bite and I could definitely feel some resistance, which turned out to be a nice plump coalfish of about 30 cms. Another species for '08 :) . Some more whiting, all small, and lots of crabs as usual. All fish came in the first hour and a half, then it died away. Also lost 2 whiting which fell off the hooks just as they left the water, much to the walkers amusement  .
