Foynes closed off

I hear Foynes pier has been closed off at night with a gate. I don't know if its open during the day.

I suspect that it is something to do with the new continental freight service that has just started.Or maybe it's because you were wiping out the local conger population :D

Col,

I'd heard a good while back Foynes would be closed down due to security against terrorism. It's the Americans driving it and I think we'll see more of our smaller ports been closed off if the article is anything to go by.

Luckily Where I do my conger fishing is still accessible its just you have to contend with a small boat passing your line every 5 minutes. I might try past the marina next summer for ray or theres also a very unaccesible area thats said to be a bass nusery so fishing in foynes isnt completely dead.
