I was gona purchase he same outfit, veals were doing an offer on it £80 for jacket and bottoms, but after a few reports from guy's who alredy had them, unfortunately they do let the wet stuff in!!!
Just goes to show that offer has been on veals website as ages and they still cant get shot of them.
Mayb you could get your money back mate.
I bought an imax flotation suit instead its definately water proof, believe me its been tested, it's very warm plus if you fall into the soup you aint gona sink!!!

Hi Eric,
I have the smock for the last two years and to be honest i've had no problems with mine and by god it has seen some really wet weather recently but they have kept me 99% dry,i only get wet when i take the smock off, also you won't sweat your brains out like some other wet gear.Overall im happy with mine except for the rancid smell on it at the moment from me wiping my hands on it after baiting up.
One bit of advice would be to wear a fleece under it on the colder days or nights just for an extra bit of heat.

have the bib and brace and must admit that i had nothing but trouble with it. technically its a great bit of kit but its waterproofing is shocking...mine leaked like a seive from day one and all the inside tapes pealed off after about 4 months of use...have heard that the earlier batches were faulty and have since been rectified so it may have been a one off....
shore species 2008(25):dogfish(3.1lbs), bull huss (12lb 2oz), bass, shore rockling, coalie, whiting, pollack, conger (22.4lbs),flounder, thick lipped mullet (4.8lbs),turbot,ling (11.2lbs),ballan wrasse(4.5lbs), cuckoo wrasse, pouting, poor cod, cod (9.5lbs), dab, 3 bearded rockling, long spined scorpion fish, corkwing wrasse, plaice, trigger fish, sea trout, garfish

Stay the hell away from the Abu smock or the bib and brace  have them and am only using them till i get new gear, although i used a water repellant spray recently on it and it seems to have stopped most of the leaks but you shouldn't have to use a repellant on gear you just bought (the first serious bit of rain i encountered and it cost me my phone  )
As for the AA gear i know some people who swear by it and some who swear at it :)

The problem with all of the smocks is that (if you're like me) they soon get covered in fish scales or bait and start to stink. To get the smell out you need a good hot wash and thats where the problems start. Even with a handwash this removes the waterproofing. I've found the best solution is to use a waterproofing agent like NIKWAX on every wash. So far no problems.

Fabric is waperproofed on the inside, more often than not with a spray coat that will seal the whole surface, this can deteriate in time but washing wont harm it directly. However some faprics do also have a outside spray coat of water repellant (a bit like Teflon) this can be effected by washing....all in all to make a waterproof garment isnt that difficult as long as the seams are taped well, they do need to be inspected in the factory before the coat/jacket is turned out, otherwise the guy who spots the fault will be the wearer.....sometimes all for the sake of a 1/2" of tape thats not stuck down properly.....water will come in everytime.
Tom.

I'm one of the ones that swear by them, I know that some of the earlier jackets had problems but from what I understand this has been sorted. Personally I think they are a great bit of kit. I have yet to get wet or overheat in mine.
All fishermen are liars except you and me and to tell you the truth, I'm not so sure about you!
