Where do you keep your gear??

#1 Post by pete »

Having read about poor Quarterflounders experience where does everybody keep their precious tackle(if anybody says down your pance :x !)? Used to run with the garage but the more that got invested the more I thought it would be best to bring it indoors. Now lives in a series of drawers, cupboards that has expanded to take up most of downstairs hall/stairwell. The girlfriend doesn't live with me so that means its even crept into bedrooms and sitting room :) . If i ever get a gaff built I'm going to try and have somewhere designed specifically to house it all. Idea of rod racks etc. appeals to me
Sea Species(25) bass, codling, whiting, turbot, seatrout, stingray, pollock, coalfish, longspine scorpion, ballan wrasse, dogfish, ling, pouting, poor cod, dab, mackerel, smelt, sandeel, launce, bull huss, painted ray, thick lip mullet, golden grey mullet, rock goby.
Fresh Water (2) brown trout, sea trout

Its called fishing, not catching. If it was called catching it wouldn't be fishing!

i bought a barn-a-shed 8' x 6' i basically transformed it to my requirements.

i filled in all the gaps with squirty foam put lino on the floor so i was able to run power out to it. there is a fair bit of space in it for all my gear i also have a fridge freezer in it.
i put some wide shelves up high for all my rods. i also put steel rails from wall to wall for hangers to dry all the clothing. when everything is wet all i need to do is put the oil filled heather on and the gear is dried in a few hours, it saves you from hanging your wet gear over the shower or on the back of a door in your downstairs toilet and most important the missus is happy!!!!

best advice for catching species is girls dont like fishing and its hard to catch fish when you sell all your gear'

I've mine all in the garage it looks like a tackle shop however its well secured including alarmed, the alarms can be set so that its on when I'm in the house let alone away for the day.

I'd cry for a month if anything was to happen....

Donal with a dog the size of Harry it may be better to teach him to p*ss on a fire in case you dont hear him barking    his hose will be well big enough I'm sure

Used to keep it all in the garage. Have now moved my waders indoors ever since the mate had his nested in by mice. He wasn't impressed when he saw all the holes nibbled in them from the knees down.
i get by with a little help from my friends.

Bought the exact same kelly barna meself, have it slightly kitted out, got some nice little accessories in B & Q, they do grand plumbing accessories, little "pipe holding fittings" for want of a better word that are easily put on the wall and two of them make a grand rod rack 8) .

A few screws to hang the wet gear on and i'm getting the leccy feed in at the moment, so will get a fridge soon. Missus is givin out f*ck i spend more time in there than the house but wait till i get the heater in there, it'll be my new home!!!
