People: Me

Duration: 7.45 pm to 12.15 am

Tide: HW at 11 pm

Weather: Moderately southerly breeze, mostly dry

Bait: Crab, squid, mussel, sandeel

Rigs: 2 hook paternoster

Results: 3 coalfish

Report: I have just jointed the site and this is my first report. I have only taken up fishing 6 months ago, first mainly fishing from rocks. Only in the last month I have started beach fishing. I fished Garryvoe Beach to the left of the hotel for the first time last night. Caught three small coalfish on mussel/squid bait, largest about 0.5 lb.

Thanks,
Yes I caught the last one just after midnight - Fireworks were exploding in the distance - maybe not to celebrate the first fish of the year. I should have taken my camera and claimed the first coalie of 2008.
