People: Me and Robert
Duration: 08:30-14:00
Tide: low @ 10am
Weather: South, slight winds then strong winds then back to slight.
Bait: frozen mackerel, blueys and squid
Rigs: 2 down flowing traces then feathers and jelly worms.
Results: 1 cod, 1 haddock, 2 pollack, 1 coalfish, 1 ballan wrasse and 1 cuckoo wrasse.
Report: Started off at hunters rock with 2 pollack. Headed out to Highland rock at about 10am. Got the ballan and cuckoo wrasse there. When the tide turned the wind also got up and it was well dodgy out there. We had to get off the reef sharpish as the waves were throwing the boat all over the place. We skirted the long way back around the maidens and decided to go back to hunters, we then got the cod, haddock and coalfish. That was my first haddock in many years, so it was nice to get one. It was small but beautifully marked. So all in all not a great days fishing but it was great to get out for a run as that was our first trip since early November.
Tried the new Lowrance 5150C chartplotter today for the first time and we were impressed by it. Seems to be pretty accurate. Thought I'd add some stats recorded on the plotter today.
Average speed 14 mph
Max speed 28.95 mph
Distance 27.63 miles
Trip Time 1hour 58 minutes.
