What zziplex for mixed ground

#1 Post by Donagh »

What zziplex should I look at for fishing mixed ground, strong tides and decent fish. I don't want something to stiff as it still has to be castable. Something similiar to my penn sidewinder. I cast fishing pendulumn with the reel low down so between 13 and 14 foot. I currently hit 150 yards with 5 oz on .4mm line.

it looks good.... until you add VAT of around 20%

Zziplex 13ft Profile Zpr (13ft, Fuji BSVOG + winch+grips for Fixed spool)

price before vat & del = £298.00 (394.038 EUR)

delivery =UK Mainland P&P £4.50 (probably 15euro to Ireland)

VAT = £52.94

Total: = £355.44 (484.654 EUR) :shock: :shock: :shock:

i have the Primo Synchro and find it a great rod, sensitive tip, loads of power, good all rounder and very forgiving to use, at the minute i can hit 198yards using 125grms (about 4oz)

Your right Andrew, the Tournament International Bullet would be a fantastic rod for mixed ground fishing.....your not the only one to think that, I had a customer (match fisherman) order 6 all for himself from me earlier in the year.

IMHO They are a forgotten classic, possibly because the butt diameter is 26mm...God! I can remember when that was looked upon as being as thin as a profile is now :lol: :lol: :lol: and like most of the older Zziplex they're not equal section but still a beautiful actioned rod...I think you would agree it would chuck 4oz or 8oz for anything from Dabs to Tope.

Tom,

I heard that the matchman in question has at least 10 of them now. How hard is it to get a new tournament international bullet.

That damn octopus buying rods again :D :D :D :D :D

Go for Primo Synchro - hell of a rod :D :D :D Hauled in about 6 stone :shock: :shock: :shock: of weed from Clonea for me the other evening against a strong rip - No bother - bends as midget says but it also bends when youre flogging a 5oz + bait to the horizon too :D :D :D
Light - well balanced and good tip for bite detection

What more do ya want??

John,

I ordered 8 of which 6 were for you know who :wink: My son collared one and I took the other.....I can always put an order in, if enough interest is shown. The 8 TI's above were the first ones Terry has made in a good while.
He is resurrecting some of the older fishing models and the demand is growing all the time, he tells me. That news is as good as its bad though.....if he is making one he is not making the other :(

Reading the bits in the adds the HSM sounds worthwhile but the price quoted at 370 sterling it would need to be exactly what I want. The primo at the price of 295 interests me but it worries me that it casts with 4oz lead. I fish 6oz lead for most of me fishing and switch down (sometimes) to 5oz for beach fishing. I`d like what ever rod I buy to be able to do both and occasionaly hit 7oz out for really big tides. Its also been decribed as bendy. I wouldn`t mind a rod that bends progressively as long as I didn`t have it lock up bring in big fish over shallow rough ground.

I`d be interested in the tournament international bullet. My worry would be with the decribtion of the butt being wider than I`m used to it would make fishing low down with a penn 525 and reel lock difficult. I`d have to try casting one first.

I`m not looking for a beast of a rod as the penn sidewinde I have, can cope with the above and my AA beach is slightly over the power range I want for this rod. Thank for the replies it`s upped my limited knowledge of zippy rods and I know what to look into and try now.

Thanks
Donagh

bullet

#17 Post by paul mason »

i have a zziplex pendleteque bullet for the last 15 odd years or so i cant remember, it was built by ag and i can tell you it is probably has one of the strongest butts i have ever seen on a rod, you could bounce it off a donkeys arse all day and there wouldn't be a bother on it.
And the bite detection on the tip is also first class.
Kstaff has always been the new black in my eyes anyway!!!!!!!
