Abu6000 Baitcaster.

Do you think I could use this for light beach work? Its got a level wind but I'm not too bothered by that as I don't have a huge cast. It holds around 250 yards of 14lb mono was thinking of putting on braid to get more line on the reel. Any advice appreciated.

Good reel Jack. But why the braid :?: If as you say if its for short casting it will be fine with levelwind but you would better off if it was removed and ct bar was put in. Also when you get a over run (and you will) it will be a lot cheeper to put on new line if its mono. Stick with about 15ib and a 50ib shock leader.

Thanks for the advice was thinking of the braid because of the higher strength for the equivelent diameter of mono but the price difference is also an influence. Might consider removing the level wind but I use it when pike fishing and from the boat with a baitcaster rod hard enough to lay the line while spinning. Where do you get the ct bars ebay?

Yep ebay for ct bars £10. Also why not get a spare frame and ct that. Just got one off ebay for £10.00 and it was new. Or look out for a 2nd 6500 plenty on there for about £30 or so.
