£25 Sea Angling Licence to fish UK waters.

The UK Government unveiled plans this week to introduce a rod license (expected to cost £25 adults, £5 children ) to rod fish UK's coastal waters from "land or boat." Shall the ROI follow with similar legislation? :cry:

The UK Government have got to get it through the Law Lords yet....it doesn't stand much chance as the shoreline up to the mean high water mark belongs to the common man, this dates back to the Magna Carta, every time the government has tried something like that they have failed.

This could be one of the last nails in asshole Browns coffin.....time will tell, anglers in the UK wont take anything like this lying down.....Old Drop Jaw Brown is in for a shock :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

Britain also have a freshwater coarse licenese we don't. For those to young to remember our government tried to implement a frehwater licence in the 80s and it didn't go down to well to say the least. Why would politicians put themselves through this for a something that wouldn't create any money and there is no justification for. They would have to revisit the freshwater license first which could be worthwhile but there's enough TDs out there that remember what happened the last time.

hi lads im currently living in the north east of england and a few of our local fishmen have been in talks with the mp david milliband about the rod licence it just seems to go round and round in circles if any of you lads want to see the letters and the chat about the licence issues log onto to http://www.nesa.co.uk you will need to flick back a few pages in shore fishing but it is there.hope this helps

Seriously......in the UK if you own 100 square miles of land and there is 10 rivers running through it....you dont own the water, you are not even allowed to fish on it......it has been that way since medieval times, but not so the ocean or the shore line in particular.

i wouldnt like to be the bailiff that has to enforce this absurd latest idea, coming across perhaps six lads on the shoreline having a few beers and a barby from belfast or anywhere else for that matter i think he would get threw in the tide if he tried to confiscate hundreds of pounds worth of fishing equipment, i believe its yet another one of the british goverments ways of getting money for nothing in return, the sheer amount of coastline would surely make a licence unenforcable, i am disgusted that the idea that we have to pay a licence whilst trawlers are the ones that are primarily plundering all and sundry in the ocean and in any case i was always inclined to believe that the waterways and coastlines were internationally owned , if i take a child to a rock pool to show them sea creatures will the big guns take their bamboo canes or wee nets of them the goverment will not stop at this they if successfull with this bill will move on to various other watersports perhaps swimming, sailing etc i can honestly say that if a law is passed by the blair witch goverment i for one will not pay it and no bailiff will take my property without my permission :roll: :evil:
