havnt fished this rockmark since april this year and having never fished it this time of the year decidede to use up the lug i had left from wednesday night. this mark has always screamed cod to me with very deep water 10 yards out , a good tide run and lovely kelpy bottom,.. oh and also the fact a 30lber was gill netted 200 yards off shore from here. first cast out with a big lug bait on a 3/0 pennell resulted in a savage bite which gave me a heart attack as i was sure it was a codling.after alot of head banging a double shot of wrasse was landed, one on each of the pennell hooks.
things then went quite for about an hour and a half when i got a similar bite which after a good fight resulted in a better wrasse of about 3 1/2lbs give or take.again i had a quite spell of about half an hour when i got a slightly different bite. this was a good tap then a small slackliner before the tip began to slowly purposefully pull over. i wound down and struck but what ever it was had gone to ground. very frustrating as i could feel the fish banging his head but no amount of slack line could release it. eventually i had to pull for a break.

fished this mark again last nite. had my first blank since january
. lost one very good fish which managed to go through my 25lb hook length.managed to put a serious bend in the sidewinder. felt like a very goodfish, possibly wrasse. also lost 2 more fish which took my bait on the drop on 2 seperate occasions. there was a big swell running which was dragging my rigs into snags every cast, even with 7 oz grippers...will definately be heading back.
