Got to the pier around 1am after a long drive straight from work, only 2 other guys there fishing and they left around 2am so had the place to myself ( not many fish about either  ) plagued by small dabs and flounder on the rag, very hard to hit managed about a dozen tried changing to squid on both rods but still only got little taps, and yet Wednesday the codling was mad for squid and sandeel. come 6 am sky clouded over and a bit of a breeze caught a couple of whiting followed by a fish i ain't yet i.d ed ( new to this see  )then a couple of nice codling on the sandeel, by 7am the sandman had paid me a visit and the old eyeballs were rolling, so called it a day.

Hi Micky,
decent session on the pier - It has served me well over the years too.
You might find this site a help for ID-ing the fish http://web.ukonline.co.uk/aquarium/index.html
I would hazard a guess at a John Dory (At least one of these was cuaght up there last year.
Check it out and let us know...
