Very intersting post from Last Cast, lots of very detailed information if you take the time to read it. You can see the enormous damage which can be caused in an area when any of this activity takes place so at least the Saleens and Back Strand have been saved from this devestation, the Waterford Estuary is still an issue. One only needs to look at the fishing in a place like Woodstown where the boats are only a cast away from the shore to see why there are no fish being caught on the beach by the pleasure angler or in competitions, if there is something there that can be harvested be it Bass, Dogfish, Eels, Crabs, Cockles, whelks etc, there will always be a hungry trawler who does not care about tomorrow and the stocks he is destroying
