Sorry, but what's the problem? No pics of obviously dead fish - they could all have been released for all you know. And apart from a couple of pike over 50cm, all could legally have been taken anyway.
Are you annoyed because they were caught by Polish guys?

Check out the first page of that post. I think Keith is referring to these kind of images, lots of images of obviously dead skimmer bream etc. :(

Sorry didn't see those when I first looked. However, if there were 2 or more anglers catching those fish its perfectly possible they were legally caught and killed. Hard to tell the scale but they could all be under 25cm so therefore legal, and the numbers are ok for 2 or more anglers in one day. Don't think we can draw conclusions either way, but I've seen a whole lot worse from Irish anglers with other species that we consider good eating fish.

there has been some speculation on this site regarding bragging of catches, apparently the words bass and ray have been used, both of which are endangered...

the problem with this site is that they are openly promoting breaking of the new bye laws.

there were a number of other posts that have now been removed showing up to ten dead bream caught by one individual in one day all over 25cm, and up to six pike in one day all over 50cm.

these fish were shown on dinner plates, being fillited etc and when the first irish people went on and complained they were abused and accused of being racist, and all the usual stuff the fish killers resort to when caught.

yes bradan as you have said i have seen worse abuses by irish people but it doesnt matter to me if they are irish or not. mass slaughter of coarse fish, netted and rod caught, can really destroy some small waters and this has been the case for several. as you no doubt know the ecosystems in small inland ponds etc can be so reduced that killing a net full of tench or bream can do real damage to the water as a whole

i think this is why people have such a problem with this particular site

having said that, i have the same diataste for people who are willing to sacrifice a big blue shark or a tope in pup,or all those big dead cyprinids over the years just to claim a speci cert form the ISFC. or the guys who used to kill 30 salmon a day on the ridge pool or the guys who still kill every tiny trout they catch on corrib and fill the boat with 50 fish. greedy people come in all nationalities.

but i do feel that immigrants to this country should show respect to their hosts cultures and laws. the people who promote the illegal killing of pike and coarse fish on that site do not.

perhaps someone should contact the fisheries board and inform them of the site and its material.

The fisheries already know about this. I have no problem with polish anglers but there are laws that are clearly been broken on this site..

hi

yeah eric as keith said the boards have been made aware of the site , but theres nothing they can do about it really. the site is hosted outside of ireland and the service providers and moderators have ignored any attempts to inform them that there members are posting illegal activities. in short they dont care.

so aside from maybe using the site to track where offences are being carried out and maybe catch offenders in he act theres not much anyone can do.

I don't speak or read Polish so can't tell what they're saying on the site, but the photos I saw (I didn't see the ones you mention) didn't clearly show illegality - again I couldn't read how many anglers were involved, and couldn't tell scale (over 25cm or not). In any case, its not sufficient to identify anyone involved or use as evidence. As you say, it merely gives us an idea where things are happening, but we already have a fair idea, its just catching them in the act thats the problem.
I agree wholeheartedly with your other points.

hi mate

yeah the ones that were obviously illegal were deleted once the posters, presumably, realised that. there were a few that did state oversized fish were kept and that too many were kept but they are gone now. as you said the ones that are left are ambigious to say the least. nothing obviously illegal as you pointed out.

yes its catching them in the act thats the trick, we have been doing well enough in my area but we have been lucky with our waters being open (visually) and it being difficult to conceal your presence on.

a few of the pages were translated on other forums.

on a lake near me, i came across 6 off these guys along with over 20 fishing rods,an a large amount of drink, bank was covered in beer cans an bottles an dead fish. most was about the size of your finger, but they had 7 good sized pike, a few was about 10 to 12lb. after a short time i landed a pike of about 9lb, when i went to return it to the water they asked me for the pike, when i said no they got very annoyed shouting, roaring an waveing their arms about. it got so bad i had to pack up an head for home.....what gets to me is if i say anything then i will be called a racist, just because these guys were polish. i phoned the local fisheries board about this an their reply was, sorry but their is nothing we can do.

If you see this happen you can phone the Eastern fisheries on 012787022 and try to get reg numbers to report. This is all we can do.

yeah there are currently no laws banning the killing of coarse fish up north but i think DCAL were looking to get some implemented.

ringing the boards is a good start, and you should also put it in writing, but you need to include as much info as you can including reg plates, as keith said, to try and catch them in possesion of fish

alternatively you could become a waterkeeper for your waters, this gives you rights of access along the waters you cover, it also allows you to search bags and boats, and confiscate gear and detain offenders.

see the link below for info

http://groups.msn.com/adamsalbum79partt ... eper1.msnw

i cover lucan (dublin/kildare border area), celbridge, kilcock, leixlip and maynooth so if anyone sees any illegal fihsing in these areas they can contact my by pm for my mobile number

thanks for the info: keith an adam s / the lake is only 5 min: walk from were they live, therefore no cars are used. have already been talking to a few water keepers about them, they know who they are and have had words with them to no avial. they have no respect for the rules or law. they told one water keeper ( we will fish anywere we want an no one will stop us ). i think the foyle fisheries board will have ther work cut out with these guys :D by the way they kill every thing an take them with them, only thing they leave behind is the cans bottles an bags of rubbish.
