century tip tornado match

At the suggestion of various members and given the magazines will run a mile from criticising a piece of kit, here is your chance to tell us what you really think about a rod, reel, line, lure... keep it legal please!

century tip tornado match

#1 Post by eric »

casting weight:4-6oz
length:13ft-2 sections 6ft and 7ft
for:clean/mixed ground

just bought a tip tornado and recently broke its fishing virginity(as mr green so faithfully put it so time ago). its light about 26mm in diameter but but has a nice bit of backbone for pulling out of snags or hefting a treble doggie should you be so lucky, its like a conoflex source with a bit of balls and casts like a dream,i love it. who needs zziplex :!: :!:

Have a Tip Tornado Sport myself.

Outstanding fishing rod.

Enough backbone to tame a tope and enough bite detection to see a flounder rattle!

disagree totally it casts very well provided you know how to cast efficiently and has very good bite detection.

eric,,
seen them all come and go over the years,, i do agree the tip tornado is one of the best beach rods on the market ,i have had one for years now but with the amount of Bass fishing ,,using lighter beach bass rods that i do,,i do not use it as much as i should only getting it out for the rougher seas of winter , have you tried heart attack fishing with a tip tornado with braid!!!!!!! coooooool

i don't think it casts well at all. have you had someone take a picture of you casting with it?

it bends sooooo much. it is stupidly soft

i just don't like the action of the rod under compression. feels way too detached from the lead.

I've got mine for the last couple of weeks.Having fished 4-5 times with it I cannot fault it.I find there is indeed a lot of backbone in the rod but maybe it's because it's new !!

i dont think it was designed to be a distance rod alex, its a match rod so i would imagine it is designed to be relatively soft to protect soft baits being damaged during casts as occurs with stiffer rods. i have the ultralite and this does bend but i can still deliver a 4 oz lead with 4 lug and a whole razor when bass fishing a hundred yards without any drama..
shore species 2008(25):dogfish(3.1lbs), bull huss (12lb 2oz), bass, shore rockling, coalie, whiting, pollack, conger (22.4lbs),flounder, thick lipped mullet (4.8lbs),turbot,ling (11.2lbs),ballan wrasse(4.5lbs), cuckoo wrasse, pouting, poor cod, cod (9.5lbs), dab, 3 bearded rockling, long spined scorpion fish, corkwing wrasse, plaice, trigger fish, sea trout, garfish

i know what you mean about it being stiff. i saw one pull in a 7lb huss and conger to 10lb with only the tip bending. and yet, when you cast it does bend much more than you expect.

Neil, i would just say that if i saw "super match" on any rod i would expect it to be able to put bait 200 yards at least. I'm not saying the rod wouldn't do it, I'm just saying that i think you would have to be a very proficient caster to get that sort of distance out of the rod.

i think to expect a match rod to put a bait 200yds is pushing the realms a wee bit. if you look at rods which will deliver this range your looking at pretty stiff weapons. to me a super match would be a rod which could deliver 3 baits a from short to mid range, have sufficient bite detiction to register minor bites at distance as well as close in but also have the option of sending a larger bait further afield if so be it. if i was looking to send any sized bait 200yds i would look elsewhere....

i have fished with top casting guys in the uk and yes there are a few that can push the limits close to the magical 200 with bait under the RIGHT CONDITIONS BACK WIND HIGH PRESSURE ETC,ETC!! do not treat the 200 as it rolls of the tounge , its just a number easly said a damm sight harder to do,,,and remember casting is not every thing!!!!!!

5% OF ANGLERS CATCH 95% OF THE FISH

here we go again! at the moment i am using a 65 euro 12 foot gruavell telescopic rod with a shimano baitrunner and braid main line next to an abu premium 13.5 foot with sports mag and 30lb braid , last 3 trips out i got one fish on the premium and loads on the gruavell , ok which is the better rod ? if YOU like a rod it doesnt make a blind bit of difference who made it or how much it cost , its more important to me to catch fish with the lightest possible tackle to get the most outa the fish we do have left  or did boycie 89 eat them all already
