Strangford Lough - portaferry pier

#1 Post by Tideisturning »

Hi
Has anyone ever fished strangford lough from the pier at portaferry? I want to head down that direction this weekend for a cast or two, maybe try round the coast as well. Does anyone know if its worth fishing and what sort of species i will catch?? Thanks

Huge variety of choices in the Portaferry/Stangford Area Mate, Portaferry pier (The one at the bottom of the town, not the ferry pier). Mixed to rough ground and will produce Wrasse, Pollack, Coalies, Macks, Conger, Rockling and various other species. Stangford pier is really more of the Same, But Ive found it to be rougher. But don't be a Concrete Junkee down that way, plenty of marks to be discovered along the shoreline...
2015 Lure: Pollack, Herring, Whiting, Sand Goby, Poor Cod, Pouting

Not sure how i will fish it yet i can imagine the tide there is strong.. so will bring the gripper leads... do you know if its possible to catch any flatfish around strangford lough? ive never caught a flattie before so it would be nice..
