Well lads, anyone heard or caught any flounder in the Lacken or Bbannow estuaries? Supposed to be a good time of year for them in those places

Morning,

Three of us were down in Lacken on saturday with the best of peeler, fished way up to the left, first, not even a bite...

Moved up to the coal yard, 2 Flounder 37cm and 45cm.

There was a crowd of ten or so people fishing near our 1st mark they only had 2 between 8am and 1pm !!

The reason for this I think is that there was a big Lug bed way up to the left, that is now gone !!

Pity was a great fishery back in the day.

Morning Jd,

I dont Know what happened to to be honest, over the last two years the lug have disappeared. The bed they were on was pure mud, this has now turned to sand.It may be linked to pollution or the presence of that green 'fletlike' weed thats everywhere?

Its an awful shame about that area I remember only 4 years ago catching large flounder there at the kilmore festival.

Everyone caught at least one or two is it pollution or poaching ? as this must have been the best flounder venue between Ireland and the UK.

you didn't say what bait you were using :?: as bait choice will make a huge difference to your results.

if you haven't got FRESH PEELER CRAB your wasting your time

simple as that.
