fished there loads of times, get yourself a really light surf rod or even a coarse fishing pole. on the pole you float tactics for everything from golden Grey mullets to gilthead bream. on the surf rod use really fine snoods and really fine rig bodies, as low a 15lb rig bodies and 6lb snoods!, you can get bass, wide eyed sole and small ray this way, plus a lot more. bait is easy to get in the form of farmed rag and mackerel, you can get the rag from any local tackle shop and mackerel from any super market. not sure about nice but there is a tackle shop in antibes and there is also one in cannes, both are on the seafront, but the cannes one is close to the Macdonalds.
as far as marks go ive never fished nice, i have cannes and the beaches there are good, fish off the groynes for extra distance during daylight but at night which is by far the best fish really close in. im sure the seafront in nice is just as good. the inside of the harbour in cannes holds very big mullet and bream shoals, the'l take bread on the pole or rag.
if you have any French, talk to the people in the tackle shops as im sure they have better knowledge then me of the area, im only a tourist too.
