sand bars

#1 Post by cd07 »

Just read JWs topic on dangerous rock fishing and I thought id give a word on sand bank. last weekend i was fishing on one of Co.Louths beaches wading onto the first sandbank. the water was only up to my knees so i stayed on it fishing for twenty minutes or so. When i decided to head back to the beach i realised the gully behind me had got rather deep! so deep it was over my mouth. my waders filled in seconds making it hard to walk but thankfully i made it in. an expensive mistake as my phone and a 50 euro note were ruined! I was only 30 yards from the shore on a beach i thought i knew and never thought got so deep. just goes to show how unpredictable the sea is. two minutes later on that bank and the fish would have had the last laugh!
