Me and me tilley

#1 Post by pete »

Fired up the coleman northstar there last week for the first time this winter, fishing a club match and lo and behold It was the only one on the beach. Have the battery brigade taken over with their flashy tiga's and are we a dying breed us tilley men  ?

Just can't beat the excitement/panic that goes with cranking her up, the aroma of burnt eyebrows and petrol is just something you cant get with yer petzl :!: A night on the beach just isn't the same without it

couldnt be bothered to hump a big heavy, bulky tilly lamp with me down a beach, especially if i had to walk any sort of distance. far easier and brighter to use a halogen headlamp

I have a coleman myself, but normally don't bother with it during matches.... If I'm out for a pleasure session, it always goes with me. Like you say, you just can't beat the excitement of starting them up, I don't know what it is about them....... Great for warming the hands as well.

KK, You can pick them up in most angling and some camping stores.

They make good company alright especially when your fishing an isolated mark, the heat of them too is sweet for bringing a bit of feeling back into the hands. My own has started to hiss at me now If i have it on for a long time :o One of the lads we used to fish was terrified of it, convinced it would blow up whenever we went to light her up he would stand 40 yards back  The fact that it would then start hissing used to shatter his nerves altogether
