Greystones 07-10-07

#1 Post by RobertMcClean »

Boat: Thresher

Crew: Myself and Gavin

Date: 07/10/07

Location: Greystones

Duration: 8am - 6pm

Tide: Ebb and Flood

Weather: Sunny Skies, Flat Calm Seas, but very foggy :?

Bait: Just fresh Macko and Squid

Rigs: Pennell wire Traces and heavy Mono Leader

Results: Tope 8) Huss, Macko, Herring, LSD

Report: After the mayhem and exertion of the Small Boats Festival I decided to take it easy and try my hand at some Tope today. I rang Gav earlier in the week to give him the heads up for the trip I know he has been waiting for since last year....TOPE. I was up bright and early and was launched and all by 7.30am. Whilst waiting on Gav to arrive, I tried for some Macko and had a half a dozen in the boat by 8am. Back to the Harbour and Gav had arrived and was ready to roll. I was surprised at the large luggage bag Gav was carrying. I said, did you bring bait or something? and with that he said, “no, Sambos”!. Gav opened the rucksack to reveal 30 odd Sambos, a flask of Soup, a jumbo packet of biscuits, a family pack of cheesy puff crisps, more Sambo's, bars and god knows what else. Gav must have told his old doll he was off to sea for a few weeks with the amount of grub he brought

With only an hour in we were enjoying Soup, Sambo's Hob Nob's and oh yeah, loads of ratchet screaming from the Tope, but no way were we putting the sambos down for that, no next out was Potato Salad and Ham, following by a double ham salad and a fourth Hob Nob....

Anyways the fishing wasn't bad either, plenty of Tope, Huss, and Herring :?

But the sambos and grub were the highlight. I had to drink a can of Red Bull to stop myself falling asleep after my fifth helping ...

All in all a good day, good craic and good company.

The typical Tope Grin :)
