snowbee granite waders

At the suggestion of various members and given the magazines will run a mile from criticising a piece of kit, here is your chance to tell us what you really think about a rod, reel, line, lure... keep it legal please!

#1 Post by paulocallaghan »

got a pair of these today €120 in southside, any one have them??

A new superior Neoprene wader using only the highest quality 4mm Neoprene which will retain its elasticity, & therefore keep out water, for much longer than cheaper fabric.

Double lined 4mm 100% CR Neoprene as used in diving suits

High back with integral neoprene braces & elasticated front adjusters

Front pouch pocket plus handwarmer

Protective knee pads

Rubber boots are fully Neoprene lined & have a steel shank

Available in either Cleated Sole or Combi Felt Sole versions

Personnely I wouldn't pay extra for waders unless they could be gauranteeded not to split at the legs. The felt soles tend to fall off after a year as well. Let us know how you get on.

cleat or felt

#4 Post by kieran »

Hi

Yes, Donagh is right - felt is a waste of time, cleated are better if not ideal for wet rocks. You can apparently buy small metal studs that can be "punched" into the soles for added grip, I'm checking this myself...

Time spent fishing is never time wasted...

2015 targets - a triggerfish, a specimen bass, a three bearded rockling to complete the set and something big and toothy from certain north Mayo deep water marks

hi,

got the cleated soles, but southside definitely have the studs for the felt ones.

the fitting is fairly snug (well at least on my aerodynamically challenged body anyway). neoprene is a little thicker than im used to and the boots seem good quality, basically a proper pair of wellies with neoprene added inside the boot for warmth.

far better than the RT crosswater pro's that iv had (gone through 3 pairs so far this year, all leaked in the boot area)

For those of you that are larger I've an abu set that was bought for 78 euros. I'm a good 13 stone and it's swimming on me. No neopreone above the waste which is no harm in the summer. As with any of the waders I've had its leaking after a year but not as badly as my snowbee pair.

Does anyone else fine that the neoprene waders don't seem to last any length of time for the price they cost?

I have had expensive ones and cheaper ones and they both eventually rip at the seams. I'm fairly strict with anything I buy, washing it down in fresh water and drying them out properly before putting them away but still the stitching seaems to eventually rot.

Incidently Gerry's of morecombe have neoprene waders for a really bad price. You can get 2 pairs of them for the price of what you would usually expect to pay for 1 pair and I think they're 4mm too. Cosy!

Haven't had a pair yet last more than a year. I'm told they should be hung by the straps when not in use but they still go on me. Felt soles can give good grip on rocks as long as there not smooth. Smooth rocks and your nearly breaking your kneck every 5 minutes

As for the rest maybe we could get weight watchers to sponsor the site.

Would bring whole new meaning to "weigh-ins" at competitions ...
