South Beach Arklow - 2 first timers!!

#1 Post by alby »

People:Myself, Philip, Aaron & Killian

Duration:11:30 - 4

Tide:last fw hours of ebb

Weather: slight easterly wind, no rain

Bait: rag, crab & sandeel

Rigs: 2 hook flappers

Results: 16 dabs, 1 flounder, 1 weever & 1 whiting.

Catch and Release:: Flounder brought home for tea :)

Report:
Brought two of the neighbours kids (Aaron & Killian) out fishing as they were always mad to give it a go. At 6 & 9 I thought they might be a bit young but they weren't phased by the easterly wind in their face.

After some getting to grips with ragworm we were fishing and soon the first dab of the day was swung in on a little trout rod I had brought along, much to the amusement of the 2 boys, many more followed shortly after and we had 19 fish in all, nothing huge but they were delighted with their day out, I even think ""fishing is cool" mas muttered coming off the beach.

Small worms took the fish close in.

This is an excellent beach to bring young anglers to.

Is that a Spanish flag I see?
