People: Myself and the brother in law

Duration: 22nd 4 hours ish from 9.30 pm , 23rd 2 -4.30 pm

Tide: rising to full

Weather: rain, wind, more rain, occassional bits of heavy rain

Bait: ffresh and frozen lug, mack, razor, sandeels

Rigs: 2 hook flappers, pennel, clip-down pulley

Results: 8 flounder, 2 bass, 1 turbot , no dogfish

Catch and Release:: Yes/No: kept two flounders

Report: Arrived in clare late on friday night, didn't have any
bait
and knew the tide was due in about 12 midnight so resigned to not
getting
out at all. As I wandered off for a pint I thought I saw a few lights
on the beach so diverted to have a quick look to see if anyone I knew was out,
didn't know them but a few lads had 3 bass and a reasonable sized
flounder in a bucket, apparently were hooking and losing a lot of bass. Cursing myself for not even having a few frozen lug to fall back on, I was
determined to get out on saturday.

Did my bait digging early (lugs were a strange colour, some very
white-ish in colour) and hit the beach in windy but good conditions, first cast I
had a double of small flounder, continued to get the flatties until high
water when the bass ( 3lbs ish both) turned up, was happy to land them both as the barbs had been crushed on all hooks and they did a lot of shaking! .
Last cast of the night caught a small turbot, a first for me from the shore.
:)

Went out again on sunday afternoon, wild seas, rain, wind ensured I
had no
company on this outing, headed to cregg beach but had to pack it in
after 2
casts as the weed was unreal, back to lahinch in hope of a bigger
bass,
used razor / mack, sandeel / mack / lug combos but didn't even get a
bite.
Maybe too rough out there, but this beach definately seems to fish far
better (for me) at night. Packed it up to watch the second half of utd
v
chelsea, wish i hadn't now :(

I'm thinking of putting a sign up when fishing: "£2 per stupid
question/ comment" , I'd have made a fortune over the weekend.

was fishing down the road shambobola on the 23rd - and got absolutely destroyed by weed - should really have given up like yourself - but had company...

had to lose a rig before i called a stop to it - the rods had already gone flying 3 times - that should have been enough

good fishing the first day for you
