Rough Ground Rod for €150-€200

#1 Post by happyguy73 »

Hi All,

Currently looking for a good rough ground rod for those heavy kelp days and very rough marks.

I have 2 Abu Suveran RX's which are great but need something with more grunt.

Looked at the Suveran XP,but would like something different as I have the 2 Abu's a;ready. The Fox Rockrunner looks like a nice piece of kit and apparently its a very similar blank to the XP just with higher quality rings and at £99 looks great value. The Fuji SIC-MNSG rings alone have to be worth mosy of that from hopkins and holloway.

Anyone using one?

Also looked for a conoflex nemesis + SLR second hand but very few about, found one but priced too high for me. Looked for Zziplex and Century too but was unsure of which models I should be searching for on Ebay.

Anyone recommend anything else in my budget?

cheers

dont know if they still make them but i have the original greys orion, for about 200 yo yos you cant go wrong, bite detection aint great but its got some backbone and its a great caster.
species for 2009 (42)
species for 2010 (27)
species for 2011 (12)
species for 2012 (8)
best advice for catching species is girls dont like fishing and its hard to catch fish when you sell all your gear'

Hi Guys,

I'm also interested on your opinions on this one.... Looking for something with plenty of backbone, 6oz plus bait with a pendulum.... Don't give a hoot about bite detection, where this rod will be going the fish let you know they are there.

try the greys nitra, slim and powerful but not so good bite detection

Cheers Lads,

Went and ordered the Rockrunner the other night after reading some good posts on it.

Seems like alot of rod for the money, expecially when considering the price of the fuji sic MNSG rings on it.

I would have been interested in the Conoflex for sure PaddyC but had ordered the rod the night before I got your post

I did look for a for sale section on here but couldnt see it anywhere.

thanks again lads for all the help and advice.
