I will be heading to Achill island for a few days next week. I am part of a group of three boats/ 8 anglers heading to try to find blue sharks (or maybe something even bigger) in those waters.
Can anyone please help me with best areas or co-ordinates for the territory to find the blues..
Thanks in advance

Hi Fishing Nomad,
We fished Achill a few months ago but not for sharks.
We went out from Purteen Harbour with Tony Burke.
I'm sure if you give him a ring he'll be able to give you some info.
He is quite a character.
His contact numbers are
353 98 47257 or +353 86 3211560
Cheers,
Trev

sharking from Achill
Hi
John Johnstone used to (still?) run a charter from Achill and was very good at locating the sharks. Weather is looking lumpy enough for you! Another person you might try is Aaron O'Grady on Clare Island, as again he would have experience of open water fishing...

Time spent fishing is never time wasted...
2015 targets - a triggerfish, a specimen bass, a three bearded rockling to complete the set and something big and toothy from certain north Mayo deep water marks
