Bigger whiting

lads have you noticed that the whiting is way bigger than its use to be same time few years ago ?? speaking about east shore,before size 25 cm whiting were good at winter now were is plenty of them and its still worm...just hoping they will be even bigger later :roll:

Haven't been doing too much shore fishing recently Okuma... Had a few last Sunday at Malahide, they were the usual 20cm though. :cry:

annariely produced some nice ones during the colder weather but only tiddlers this summer had a few bigger ones in brittas bay a few weeks back

Might be a few better year classes about at the moment. Found last winter at local spot that whiting were averaging close to 29cm when for the last eight or so years it would have been closer to 24cm. This used to be the norm (29cm) so was delighted to see them back. Hopefully this winter the standard will be maintained.
Sea Species(25) bass, codling, whiting, turbot, seatrout, stingray, pollock, coalfish, longspine scorpion, ballan wrasse, dogfish, ling, pouting, poor cod, dab, mackerel, smelt, sandeel, launce, bull huss, painted ray, thick lip mullet, golden grey mullet, rock goby.
Fresh Water (2) brown trout, sea trout

Flip, Could do with adding a few CM on up this direction, Might make trips to Bangor worthwhile, since I started Bangor's been like attack of the 3 inch whiting... :lol:

was at down coast there a couple of weeks back and caught whiting about 20cm, would love a whiting of 29cm

anyone see that scottish fella paul on discovery , fishing in the faroes he landed a whiting of about 4 lbs i didnt recognize it as a whiting, now that would be worth taking for your supper :shock:
